This is the day 5 post, a little late but better than never. The day 6 post is likely to be late also, as I am off to braai and drink sjampajne (Afrikaans for champagne, I have learnt all the essential nouns as you can see).

Knitting and Crochet Blog Week Day 5: Something Different

And here are the ‘show notes’ i.e the ingredients list:

Funeral Rice

15g butter/margarine
20g sugar
5g turmeric
75g seedless raisins
200g rice
5g salt
1 1/2 cups boiling water
5g ground cinnamon

Bobotie

1 slice bread
1 Granny Smith apple
1kg minced beef or lamb
60ml brown vinegar
30g mild curry powder
15g sugar
1g pepper (chilli powder)
500ml milk
1 large onion, fried
75g seedless raisins
30g apricot jam
15g turmeric
7g salt
2 eggs

  1. PODCAST, PODCAST, PODCAST!!!! Was a wonderful surprise to hear your voice, we really should do a skype stitch and bitch sometime. The joys of not working when I’m at home is anytime is wine o’clock so time difference is irrelevant.
